The archaeological site of Paestum lends itself admirably , for the obvious historic features and landscape , the development of the so-called “archeoturismo” (archaeological tourism) .

We could define the archeoturismo as the movement of travelers who, with tourist mode , put at the center of the grounds of their trip , the visit and the knowledge of the site and archaeological heritage .
We talk about archaeological heritage in a broad sense because it is archeoturismo also the trip to visit , for example , the “Tomb of the Diver ” , rather than the whole archaeological site .

Why a hotel in Paestum for archeoturismo  ?

The question might seem trivial considering the archaeological site of Paestum , but in fact the answer is to be found mainly in the position of Paestum with respect to the major archaeological sites of Campania.
We recall that from Paestum in less than an hour away by train is easy to reach Pompeii , which is , remember, surely the most visited archaeological site in the world with its 2.443 million visitors in just 2013, just as the witness can constitute for archeoturismo Campania a resource and a valuable source of income .
For the site of Paestum , the numbers are much lower (about 80,000 visitors in 2013 ), but , as important , a net increase .
Paestum is reached also the archaeological site of Velia, of great historical interest

A branch dell’archeoturismo : the archeogastronomia

Paestum and the province of Salerno , with its gastronomic delights which are an attractive place for the discovery of tastes and recipes related to antiquity : that just part of the ‘ archeoturismo which is called archeogastronomia .
It would be nice to find in any hotel in Paestum some recipes , maybe slightly adapted , taken by Apicius , for repeat visitors to taste now lost : do not forget that the Roman and Greek buns resemble our own and that of the Roman garum and salted anchovies distance is not great.
Outside the appearance culinary, what about the old roses of Paestum, which according to tradition bloomed twice a year and whose petals adorned as carpets, the triumphs of the Roman emperors . Yet no hotels in Paestum , where so many marriages take place , decided to revive this ancient flower , reproducing the culture .
This also means encouraging the archeoturismo .
